This is typical behaviour from people on boards that are all about 'me, me, me'.
I spend most of my online time on other boards (hobby related) besides Somersoft and we always have members who make these announcements only to come back under another name at a later date because they can't keep away.

I don't understand why they need to make announcements or send messages to mods/root admin telling them they are leaving. Who cares. Really.
When i've had enough of a board i simply don't post or take a break for awhile (like Alexlee is doing). Better to fade away than make a pork chop out of yourself.
