I am an Aussie, who recently returned from the states after living there for 5 years. I was able to do extremely well trading property and shares, particularly property in the New York and San Francisco area. Most of my deals were properties secured by option contracts which were on sold at profit prior to settlement.
I would like to enter the Sydney / Melbourne property market, and was hoping to pick the minds of the many experienced investors on this site. Particularly is the above method using options used much in Australia, and is Stamp Duty payable on these contracts. Also will banks lend on residential properties using non-recourse loans in company names.
