maybe you should have gone to the st peterburg exhibition and see the horribly stark contrast between the "leaders" and "everyone else"....

it made me physically sick.

thanks, but i actually lived there for aout 2/3 of my life

and if you compare what our pollies are getting with wht the people on a dole get, there won't be much difference there either

in USSR, and what followed after collapse
but my grandparents obviously lived during Stalin's years

now on the population note

if you have a look at this website you will see that population actually increased during Stalin's years (he died in 1953)

this is despite having huge losses during 2 World Wars and 1 civil war

now i don't want to point fingers, but if we look at what was happening in Australia with aboriginals and women during those years, it doesn't really portrays Austalia in good way
