Farewell Somersoft, and thank you

Below is a picture of the Apollo XIII Lunar Module (callsign: "Aquarius") which was designed to land on the moon, but (as we all know) it never did, hence it still has the feet.

It instead became a life-raft for three astronauts stuck 380,000 km's away in space. It got them as far as it could possibly take them on their journey back to Earth before it reached the absolute limits of its engineering (it was designed to land on the moon not fly through space) and then it had to be jettisoned by the crew.

This picture is of it drifting away into space...

... and that is kind of how I feel about the end of this forum.

As the NASA Flight Controller said at the time -

Farewell, Aquarius, and we thank you.
