FHOG question

I just have a question regarding the FHOG I hope you can answer.

Last year my husband and myself built a house, but to get finance we had to have my brother listed on the finance as security, as we had just returned from overseas and were unable to obtain finance by ourselves. As he was listed on our mortgage, he was then listed on the Title. We have received our FHOG, and we had to have his name on the application as he is on all the official paperwork.

(I wish we had of not put him on titles etc - was this avoidable?)

My brother has no interest in our property. He did not contribute to the deposit. Has not contributed to any mortgage payments and will not benefit financially if we ever sell our property. He has never lived in the house either.

Now my question, he is now purchasing his own house, is he eligible for the FHOG in his territory?

I look forwad to your reply.

HI JC

Chase down the OSR in yoru state.

Id say without a special dispensation he would NOT be eligible, since he is Legally entitled to a proportion of the home proceeds since he is on title.

Many lenders do insist that finance support guarantors are on title, but some dont.
