Financial Planner

Hi all,

not really a 'property finance' question but just a general finance question..

I'm concerned for my mums financial well being and was wondering if anyone knows a financial planner/ advisor in Sydney. Or would anyone recommend someone to speak to regarding investing for the future?

I have spoken to her regarding property but its seem like its a good idea then it fizzes out then its back to normal everyday life

any suggestions are welcome...apart from the 'give the money to me' remarks lol

I would PM Terry W, he's a lawyer, broker and chartered tax advisor and i think he recently got his registration as a financial planner.

Hey Moneyman,

If you have given her suggestions and then the desire wears off pretty quickly, then I think she needs help with setting the right mindset first. I would spend more time with her talking about what could happen in the near future for her if things will just go as it is now. If she doesn't have the desire to do something first, then any assistance will just yield the same result. She will more than likely listen to you than anyone else at first. Once the desire is there, then I will call a professional to do the rest. Just my two cents and a quarter. :D

Hi Moneyman -

Its difficult to recommend a financial planner/ advisor, I know so many and each of them suit different people and objectives.

I've has a number of dealings with Terry Waugh - the fella is a walking encyclopedia - he is a planner, tax strategist and lawyer.

He has recently started a specialist venture which I support called http://www.propertytaxsolutions.com.au/

With Mike from House of Wealth. Give Terry W a yell and he will take care of you. Quality of advice is imperative and Terry has integrity at heart always.

Cheers, Ivan

What concerns you about her financial well being?

Playing devils advocate:- Why is property the right solution for her?

Thanks for your replies guys,

I believe mindset is the #1 thing too, but i just dont want to give her advice that could potentially be wrong

she is 65, single mother and has a small mortgage (say $150K?) on a $400K property in the western suburbs

I suggested property in 2011 to buy in the west, we went to B invested, spoke to nathan, then fear stood in the way.

Had a converstaion last night about not taking action and 5 - 10 yrs later she will be in the same position.

I will PM Terry and see what the master says :)
