You can get a 30yr Fixed Loan in the States.. When are we going to see these products here?

It all depends on your relationship with your banker. I do know of someone who has 20 yr fixed mortgages with their bank. I've been told not to hold my breath but, apparently all banks will offer 15-25 yr fixed mortgages in the near future.

I know that NAB is offering 10 year fixed rate at something like 8.05 %. I am in the process of finding out more about this and am considering taking up this offer.

Aussie home loans are offering a "20 year interest only property loan" called asset power. The interest however is not fixed but is directly linked to the 30 day bill rate plus a margin of 1.35 %. This product in itself does not protect you from interest rate rises. Does anyone see any benefit from this product apart from the fact that you do not have to refinance every 5 years.

Do you think it is a good time now to fix the Interest rate at 8.05 for 10 Years or just leave it variable?.

Thanks
