Look at clickbank, you may have 1000 sites selling your product for 30-40% commission.
Otherwise getting your site up is just the start. It's equivalent to opening a shop in the middle of the desert ie millions of people around you, but nobody knows your there.
Once you got your site up for a while I think you'll have a better feel for what we're saying here.
