Funny / strange wireless names

Walking my dog last night, I checked my email on my IPhone (love the IPhone) and as it checks, it looks for wireless networks to join up to.

Well...........last night, i couldn't stop laughing at what i found.

Some smart person named their secure wireless router "F**K OFF"

Anybody found similar?

GG

My WiFi SSID is:

NotTheWiFiYouAreLookingFor

... only just fits within the allowed space.

I figured that since I could see my neighbours SSIDs, they could see mine - so I thought I would help them out.

Others I've seen elsewhere:

"ShutYourDogUpOrIWill"
"SurfingForPorn"
"pwned"

If you're bored, get an app for your phone which shows visible SSIDs and wander around your neighbourhood seeing what everyone uses - you might come across some classics.

mine is the 'goatporn' network, my old house was 'the super cheese' network and a mates is PedoBear because we decided the 'childporn' network might cause to many issues.

Ours are, "Dockrey Apartments OpenNet" they are not locked down at all, there is no cap on internet usage on any our ISPs, so we leave it open for people to access, certain proxies, sites, and keywords are blocked however, in the router rules
before we came to Aus I copied 160GB of video to each laptop in case we got bored with reruns, everything on cable in Aus is a rerun to us, took about 4 hours,
hate the extremely slow internet in Aus

If the Federal Govt can get organised (yeah right) apparently a solution is on the way. Quite possibly it's a solution you or I won't be around to enjoy but our grandkids might .... :D

my first puter was "slave", followed by the blue screen of death and the phoenix from the ashes, "slave02". took a few brain cells to come up with that sequel, clearly.

LOL around the corner from me is "F%$K OFF GET YOUR OWN"

makes my "private network" very boring :)

Hmmm gives me an idea though..maybe I should change both my home and office networks to our biz name and phone no or our web address ... Marketing outside the square :)

Mine's homewlan.

I named the pc's and router what they are to keep things obvious and simple. When I was a rebel kid I'd be naming everything with something to do with death or destruction, but I guess i'm getting boring in my old age :(

mine isn't broadcast to strangers :)

Makes no difference hiding your SSID - it's trivial for someone who's actually looking for WiFi networks to locate one that hides its SSID ... I say don't bother hiding it and choose something funny instead - at least that way you can sit back smugly thinking about people looking at their WiFi settings and then chortling to themselves when they find your network :D

my wireless is called spaceman, i had been up many nights in a row feeding new born twins and catching up on episodes of 30 rock one of the characters is dr leo spaceman. One of the funniest shows going.

Mines FRED (F*&$ Ridiculous Electronic Device)

Got an app somewhere about that can get the passcodes for them :D

Based here in Canberra I named one ASIO_Secure but it wasn't connected to the internet.

I remember reading about one guy who caught his neighbour using his wireless so he set it up so that unless you were on a MAC address list all of the websites visited changed fonts to something unreadable and made all of the pictures present upside down.

not unless they find bad stuff on your PCs

ASIO's requested new digital wiretapping powers would make this largely irrelevant ... you could hook up a VoIP service to someone's WiFi network and make threatening calls (or just conduct illegal business), and then the person who owns the connection may well have a lot of questions to answer.

Even though they aren't likely to be found guilty of anything (unless they just happen to be), the suspicion and inconvenience would be very stressful.
