Good & Cost Effective Accountant - WTB - BRIZ

Hi Everyone,

I have always done my own tax, had never been that complex, at most was on STS as a non-GST reg ABN and/or general ?employee? type return. In the last couple of years, due to property investment (I?m new to this), I decided it was time to use an accountant.

The first one was easy to talk with, was not expensive, but clearly not a well versed property type accountant (defeating the purpose of using an accountant).
The second (last tax return), was great, though charges like a wounded bull at every turn.

Basically, does anyone know a good (and not overly expensive) accountant in Brisbane area? Really am looking for someone with well-grounded property specialisation (especially with good company/trust knowledge). Probably prefer a guy with low overheads (likely not city based/ outer) who is happy to have a chat without charging for every conversation as a ?consultation?.

As a service provider all the accountant has to sell is their time. Does Coles let you pick up bread and milk for free because they know you will do your weekly shop in the near future?

The best way to deal with fees is to understand the hourly cost and have an estimate in place before proceeding.

Enough analogies, in all, not looking for converse opinion (keep those ones for an angry email to your dad or whoever it is that's making you an angry person on a forum), just a good recommendation on someone good and appropriately priced.

No, but they are charging you for the live of the loan, in other words trailing commissions.

Does Coles charge you for assistance in the shop when assessing their products? Has a market stand ever cut up fruit for you to try before you buy a bag? Called sales process certain portion of price of the product its to pay for the sales process.

Your analogies are flawed as in both cases the service level is built into the product pricing. It is part of their sales process.

In the accountants case their product is time / knowledge and consequently they have to charge for the time spent helping you understand. If they didn't charge then potentially all their time could be spent hand holding customers and earning no income.

There was no anger intended in my post, just a statement of why you are charged fees and a suggestion on how to avoid any surprises.

It is disappointing to see your second post on this forum is to make personal attack.
