Great Southern investors ..

I don't know anyone who invested but have seen a lot of Timbercorp investments first hand in southern Vic and SA .

Many farming people I know did well doing business with Timbercorp .

Considering the people who invested in these were told it was all OK with the tax man and a safe investment, I can't help but feel a bit sad for them.

Could the Financial advisers now be sued ?

Hasn't there been a number of cases over the years where the ATO has made changes to MIS retrospectively and investors got burnt and had to make repayments?

Just one huge disaster from woe to go. Greed from everyone [including the unfortunate tax dodging investors]. Banks, advisors, everyone should share in the pain.

As pursefattener mentions, there were some farmers who did OK from selling out at ridiculous prices. Now they might get to buy the farm back? Knock down the stupid trees and start again?

See ya's.

unfortunately the history of forestry investment schemes has been generally disastrous for investors in Australia

for most of the past 50 years

I remember a colleague spent a lot of time in the 80s trying to get answers to why his forestry investments made several years earlier had not produced anywhere near the promised income
