Has anyone heard of the term Crowdfunding?

Recently i have heard a few project managers are creating a "crowdfunding" opportunity for property investors...guess it just work as like shares? but in properties...

Does anyone know anything about this? whats the catch?:confused: pros and cons?
 
Legally and logistically it can be a nightmare for corwdfunded property ownership (both on a small scale and full development scale). The substantial additional legal and contractual costs involved, will eat away at the overall profit, especially in a development. This could hurt returns for all involved.
