Hi there,
We currently have one rental property and
have just purchased another two...all well
and good, however we have are having
problems with finding a good
accounant...ie one who
-returns phone calls! and
-is knowledgeable enough in PI/CGT/Tax
to not have to charge a fortune to look
everything up.
Can anyone recommend a good
accountant (that they've had good
experience with) in the Brisbane area?
Many Thanks.
Kate

I'll second that.

I'm up for a new accountant. My tax has grown very curly over the last year and need a property savvy accountant in Brisbane.

Question whether you need a local accountant. With email these days, I wonder myself.

I have just started to use Dale for this forum (join the queue!).

Now I shouldn't advertise this but Dale not only returns calls, he welcomes emails with odd questions (within reason) and don't be surprised to get replies penned in the middle of the evening or at 5am.

He's definitely available and in touch.

For me, Dale's office in Kilsyth takes a cut lunch to visit from St Kilda and even further when I move the Qld but I will still use Dale.

Just a thought as someone might suggest a Melbournite or Sydneysider that actually understands property and tax - far more valuable than a local you can meet face to face with but has no idea!

Cheers, Simon

Hello Kate,
I am a Brisssy girl too - I have a small business accountant who is a property man himself, have not been unhappy to date. But I know a lot more now than last year - so I will see how i feel about him this year. Went to the G.Dioge and P.Eslick seminar recently - a very impressive accountant by the name of Richard Clarke, partner at Bernays Brown, Creek st Brisbane, 07-32189888
Appears to specialize in property and trusts, plays the game himself. He looks after Paul and Geoff, if i was in need of another accountant i would be making a bee line there - but as i say have no first hand experience of his work. Was very impressed with his knowledge and ideas at the seminar, he was on the panel. I am eagerly awaiting delivery of the forums favourite accountant's latest publication, so I will certainly be looking at my current accountant with new eyes this time round.
Good luck with you quest.
Denise

I fully agree with Simon. I have started using Dale as my accountant and believe me not other accountant would probably have put up with the amount of questions I fired at Dale especially in relation to Discretionary Trusts. He truely has been exceptional in helping me understand these more difficult areas.

Dear all,

I'm sorry but I can't let this go by . . .

To avoid potential libel actions I will say no more other than I will never
use Richard Clarke at Bernays Brown again.
As far as we are concerned (and this is our opinion only), it was a very
expensive and huge mistake.

Sorry again,

Ian
