How do you Drill a hole in a Ceramic Tile?

G'day All,

Glad you asked. Attaching fixtures to tiled surfaces can be a bit tricky if you don't know what you're doing. If a tenant rings up and complains that the towel rail or the toilet roll holder has fallen off, don't call for the handyman just yet. Save yourself some dough and learn how to do it yourself. The first and most important skill to know is how to drill a hole in a tile. I've just uploaded a video showing exactly how to do it. It's really easy.

Generally the black rubber washers are used as a depth gauge on the drill bit.

Having the proper drill bit is the most important thing. Use one specifically designed for tiles.

G'day Edmond. I use the rubber stopper as a shock absorber. It's a preventative measure against accidentally cracking or splintering your tile. I did a video on it a few months ago explaining the logic behind it. If you're interested, you can check it out. The link to it is below.
