How do you get hold of approvals for an auction property?

Hi, I had a building and pest inspection done on a property yesterday that is up for auction on Saturday. There was quite a lot of stuff they pointed out to me, one of which was to make sure all of the alterations to the house had council approval. For example, the house has been extended in a couple of places. It is now 5 bedrooms but the inspector was saying that it is only 5 bedrooms 'legally' if all the approvals are in place.

Do I ask the REA? Do I call teh council?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I really dont know. Im feeling a bit deflated as Im now unsure whether to go through with the auction bid.

Thanks

ring the council and ask them what they require. i think it will probably be a letter from the vendor giving you permission to access the file on the property. you conveyancer will know what this letter is as is usually profoma. the vendor's solicitor can then ask the vendor to sign it and return for you to take into council.

if they refuse to sign then i'd wonder if the alterations are dodgy.
