Japanese Banks in the NEWS again

The Japanese Banks wanting to move into Australia is still doing the rounds.

News.com.au pulled a story from the DailyTelegraph.

Seems to have been floating around for a while, would be nice if it eventuated.

Haven't been readinbg the forum daily so not sure if it has been discussed in the last 6mths?

Anyone got any good info on this?

Cheers

Slightly off topic, but look at the language used in the articles:

"Japanese banks could snatch $100 billion of the Australian home loan market"

"Five to ten percent market share could be stolen"

emphasis mine - 'snatch', 'stolen'.

Now compare this to another article, although in a different paper:
Aussie dollar lures US retailers onto eBay

Aussie dollar lures US retailers onto eBay

The Americans are being 'lured' here

I guess there aren't enough of us trying to lure the Japanese banks, or maybe we could be cynical and say something about reporters putting a slant on stories with an aim to getting maximum readership. :D

Always thought it would be good to borrow cash from banks/lenders in countries with low interest rates, just don't know enough to make it happen.
