Legal to rent out upstairs and down stairs

Hi all,

I just curious, I found a place that has divided the double story house... It has 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom at the bottom with kitchen. The same setup down stairs 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom... Is this legal? Insurance and council wise?

For insurance I would need 2 landlord policies right?

Why not call the council and find out?

If there is an electricity metre for each one.

Electricity meter for each property does not mean it can be rented out separately legally.
