Magazine Subs - deductible?

From: Tony Dixon

Hello,

Just wondering whether subscriptions to redecorating/renovating magazines are tax deductible?
The intention is to use this knowledge to add value to future property investments.

e.g.
Australian House and Garden
Home Beautiful

As a professional investor, you need reference materials. How else are
you going to know the current market ideas? So yes, these subscriptions
are deductible.

Hi

Jas is right, they should be tax deductible.

Howdy there,

being an IP investor & a IT professional I've always claimed magazine subscriptions through my accountant (ie. API mag, computer mags, gardening mags & even IP books from Jan Somers)... I was told that as long as the books or mags are related to your work & your investment interests (generating income) there are no problems there...

Cheers,

Manuel.
