Am looking at a property with some major cracking due to movement etc.
Instead of dealing with the underlying problem of stabilising foundations, vendor has had 4 or 5cm gaps filled with new mortar in an attempt to attract higher price. There's also old work done with cement.
Of course, this has made the problem worse and the beautiful stained glass windows look like they're about to shatter. On the inside, the plaster falls off the walls daily.
Imo the new mortar and old cement would need to be removed before the work on foundations be done.
Do you agree?
And how can this be done? Can I DIY mortar removal?
