Most Annoying Habits of Co-Workers

My only real irritation at work is that I'm trying to get more money for one of my younger guys on the team, ans our higher management is dragging its feet. HE is very good at his job, and could easily make more elsewhere,
(I told him if we can't get him a pay rise and he wants to leave, I'll make a few calls and get him some good interviews.)

Good on yaa V8, You doing the right thing, I believe his good work must be rewarded more generously.

This isnt the poor guys fault, but years ago we had a workmate who had some kind of sinus problem. And he would ferociously blow his nose, maybe five or six times an hour. We wondered when he would find brain matter in his hanky.

And I have always eaten lunch at my desk - lucky I didnt share an office with the nose blower as I think I would be gagging while eating.

co-workers who complain about every little thing, endlessly. If the job is so bad don't work there.

People who will tell you they will do something but don't, no matter how many reminders and emails they are given.

People who don't respond to their emails (our main form of communication).

People who alway expect me to fill in for them, and yet NEVER return the favour.

People who are late.

My pet hate when I worked for a company was the "victims of the world" so hard done by and instead of being stroked by their good efforts in life, they constantly have dramas occouring and thrived off drama. Absolute pet hate when people treat their lives like their living in home and away.

Hands down top #1 hate.

Oh boy am I hearing you on this one!

I prefer to think they want to be in Days of our lives. Maybe the over 30's, that is. I often want to say to these people "Life doesn't have to be so melodramatic, this is not a problem"

I had a sister in law like that, she is now my ex SIL (brothers wife). Not V bright at all and EVERYTHING was a drama. I'm sure part of the break up was because of the melodramatics!

Reminds me of a co-worker whose desk was right next to mine, she was in her late 40's and lived with her mother late 60's. She would call her mum 10 times a day. The 11am phone call was to check on what mail had arrived that day. The other calls would be about the cats and what they were doing  Drove me mad.

And another... Whenever I walked into my boss's office and he'd have porn on the screen, he'd ask me to come and have a look WTF!!

Oh and I always seem to be the one filling up the water cooler, i know i don't drink 20 litres of water a day

Oh boy, thats the serious breach of most companies policies regarding using the net.

I can't believe people can be that stupid/desperate to watch PORN on work PCs when thay know the consequences.

He is the boss its ok.

I actually encourage this sort of behavior from my bosses

Can't be helped when you know everything. ;)

Next time guide them to where they can find the info. that is of course if it is written down somewhere. It may take more of your time initially but they stop asking if they have to find it anyway.

Then tell HR that you're now a team leader and need more money.

Andrew

it's hard to document everything, the system is too big.
the manual itself is probably a month of full time reading, so people prefer to ask someone who knows before the look up the manual cause it saves them time. and then there are non-techy people.

i'm a 2IC anyway but yeah, more money is always good :D
i just need to train someone up to be able to answer half of the questions instead of me.

i take it it's a small business, so the boss is the owner and can do whatever he/she wants.
you could probably argue showing it to employees is harassment but that would depend on situation and employee

One guy I worked with thought passing wind was funny. The smell was so gross it would not completely leave the room for at least 15min.

I seriously did not know it was humanly possible to smell so bad (and I've looked after many people with bowel conditions -many moons ago).

Anyway, he was reported and his foul behaviour stopped. He's since moved on :).

This guy who had a chip on his shoulder popped off a few times in the morning 2 days in a row. I couldn't handle the smell so when he walked somewhere i pulled out the pino clean wiped his desk down with it and the glen 20 sprayed it heavily around his desk and near mine. errr disgusting.

A friend who used to make adult sites used to joke about if he had 'normal' stuff open on the computer like Word, or Google (anything non-porn) his boss would say "Why isn't there any porn on your screen? Get some work done! I want to see more porn on your monitor, next time I walk by.". He was only allowed to look up NSFW stuff on the internet.

people who come to work with colds and pass it to everyone!

if you were so important the company just couldn't function without you for a few days you'd have an office

I know! It's the worst! Even worse when you're the new kid on the block and you know within a few short weeks that you could be one of the most mature people in the office!

People who will tell you they will do something but don't, no matter how many reminders and emails they are given.

People who are late.

Yep! I gave my manager rent payments to take up to the other office, which she didn't do then had the landlord ring up abusing me asking why the rent was late! For the record - Yes i would've done it myself, but i had only been working in the office for maybe a month and they didn't trust a young girl with a few thousand.

Same manager is ALWAYS late, most of the time like 5-10 minutes, no big deal. But it's when it gets to 40 odd minutes and NO PHONE CALL! I don't have a key, so it was very rude, i had to wait! I couldn't get a hold of her either!

My biggest pet hate at the moment though is the fact they won't give me a key! Yes i've been here for under 3 months, but i'm pretty sure i know how to set an alarm and lock a door! They reason? They can't put that type of responsibilty on me?! Pfft, i moved interstate with no family, i think i can handle it, especially since i'm alone half the time - like now...

Or how someone is CONSTANTLY on their mobile/work phone, with personal calls doing nothing then looking like they're about to lose their head with how much they haven't gotten done!

They're still your elders Lil, so make sure you respect them ;).

Wisdom and maturity don't always come with age. See, you learn other things at your job, apart from your trade :D.

I remember watching the clock at 5pm on a friday as we had a boss that use to LOVE dragging us in on the saturday to do the most mundane reports. the trick was to wait till he went to the toilet or somehting then run out the door, else he could hit you up for it. made it really hard to plan a social life when you never knew if you were working

Oh! I wouldn't ever step out of line. I just bite my tounge and say nothing.

The last thing that went down was to do with a personal relationship  - the girl ended up getting fired! I pretened to be completely ignorant to what was going on because both offices were caught up in this massive fight because people were "manipulating" others etc..I got told the whole story, i just chose not to comment on any of it!

I have a theory that people who make extra drama in their lives or get right into office politics etc are just bored and don't have enough to do. Work hard and keep busy it solves all your problems imo!

I'm sure I'd end up on a list like this for our office, (talking to myself, taking shoes off, eating lunch at desk :)) but one that irks me is a particular individual in our office who insists on YELLING down the phone to some of our international clients, simply because they're far away and have a slight accent!

And this person is about 15m away from my desk and around the corner, and I can still clearly hear her conversations!! :(

Actually it was a rather large franchise  It wasnt harrassment just plain annoying.

As annoying as... Everyone having their own coffee cup but when you go to make a coffee you have to hunt everyone's desk to find whose got your cup.
