A colleague of mine had received a mail this morning, something about from Australia Post and a delivery not being made etc.

DO NOT OPEN IT/CLICK ON ANY LINK or file contained in the email.

This colleague had clicked on this mail.

Then followed by another mail, he must pay USD$500 via bitcoins within 50 hours, otherwise all data will be lost

If you get this mail, delete and do not click on it

Yup this new ransomware seems to be doing the rounds:

Avoid clicking links in any emails from an unknown sender. Some of the most recent attacks seem to be coming from "@auspost.biz" addresses (or other similar variations). The Australia Post domain is "auspost.com.au".

My preferred method operandi is to delete everything and ask the search button later.

If you do click

• Use system restore to reset to immediately before you clicked on it
• Use Malwarebytes to remove the problem
• delete the mail

IT is a very simple bomb, that sets a registry timer. most versions do not carry a malware payload, just the money requests,
