New Somersoft Forum

From: Robert Forward

Hi To the powers that be....

I'm trying to access into the new forum. I've signed up with all my details etc but I'm not allowed to post or reply....

HELP....

Or is it just that as you login you need to await for the moderators to pass you through?

Any details on this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Robert

Hi Rob,

When you registered on the new forum, you should have been sent an email to confirm your email address - in that email was a link that you needed to click on to complete your registration.

Doh,

I registered at work with my home email.

Derrrr... to me.

It will be awaiting on my home pc then. So I had this really boring night shift at work then cause I couldn't access the new forum.

Actually it meant I had to actually do some work. Not Happy Jan.

Cheers,
Robert

Ahh yes, our email viewers... sorry - should have thought of that.

You should go visit: http://www.somersoft.com.au/forum.htm and all will be revealed !

PS. sorry, there is no email access to the new forum - it is simply a feature that is not available with the software we chose.

The web interface to this new forum is really really good !

Hi Sim,

New Somersoft Forum (Email Option ???)

You said, "Sorry, there is no email access to the new forum - it is simply a

Firstly, I'm an email forum member. Please don't push us away !!!

It's quick and fast. We get a little HIT of info everyday... and it only
takes a few minutes to read everyone's posts... Therefore...

I object! I want an email option. ;-) (* Pretty please)

Hi Ross,

Believe me, I am not intentionally pushing our email users away. It was a tough decision I had to make when balancing requirements and feature sets.

Try the new software out... it's much much faster than this WebBoard, it has a really nice interface and lots of cool features.

I'll see what we can do about getting some type of email support happening.

I posted about this in the new forum... there has been many requests made of the developers of the software we are using (vBulletin) to include things like email digests in the next version.

They have acknowledged the need for it, but have made no promises that it will make it in.

I'll keep you posted.

Ross, please make an effort to try the new web based forum in the meantime - it's really quite good and we're getting great feedback from everyone who is using it. We would hate to lose your contributions, they have certainly added a lot of value to our community.
