Hello,
A basic question indeed from me, (and probably one of many)!
Someone had put the Tax wed site address on the Forum for me, thank you. I need to investigate further as I can not get it to open. I have just received my PIA software - gosh very exciting! super silly question number one!!!
ip of 80 years of age - is there any depreciation to be claimed on the building - or is it to old? (a bit like myself)

Thank you in advance - just need an answer in a hurry to throw some figures together on the software -
Kind regards,
Denise

Denise,

On the building itself, a building allowance only applies for those properties constructed post 20th September 1985.

You may be able to claim depreciation on some items within the Property. A Quantity surveyor would help create a schedule for such purposes.

Hi

I don't mean to be pedantic, but . . . the actual date is 18 July 1985.

The 20th September is synonymous with Capital Gains Tax starting.

have fun

Dale,

I had thought that the building allowance commenced at the same time Capital Gains was introduced...there you go, you learn things every day!!!!
