North Altantic Rim housing market

With Germany, you would need to see the West German prices as well to get a true picture of the market. Taking the East German figures would be like basing Australia's property market on a nearly abandoned rural town.
I work for a company which is based on the border of East and West, with one office on the East side and one on the West side, and they are still totally different countries.
After working for the company for 2 years, in Australia, I can pick who in Head Office is from East and who is from West, even the younger people who were kids when the wall fell. There is a completely different attitude and approach to life.
The level of housing and industry on the East German side is often terrible, from what Ive seen. The buildings are crumbling, with lots of vandalism and abandoned buildings etc. Some villages are virtually abandoned. So, I can understand the prices being very low there!
I think it will take a long time before the 2 sides are totally integrated.
