Oh no, Andy... not good

Normally I wouldn't be on here, no I'd be enjoying my Friday night dose of Collectors on ABC and a quiet port or two.

:(

Not good Andy, what's going on? I felt sick when I heard the news...

Innocent until proven guilty.

Only charged with 1 count- using a carriage service. That means the coppers raided his house, searched his computers with a preliminary detection programme and found nil.

Who is to say his wifi wasn't hacked, a boarder used a laptop to download, or his IP has been mimicked.

Let us not be so quick to jump to conclusions- leave it to the jury.

I'm not the one jumping, Aunty has made the show vanish and closed the website.

I'd be happy to hear it was all a misunderstanding and Andy is the nice guy I thought he is, but the ABC is not mucking around here.

I'm just sad, :( there's hardly any tv I really enjoy watching nowadays and, daggy as it is, I love Collectors. My Friday night chill out.

When it comes to child porn/pedophilia i prefer the guilty until proven innocent route.

He's a gonner. And he'll cop it in jail for good measure. As they all do.

And yes, he looks so not the type. Who can tell these days.

All it takes to get into trouble with this law is one image of a "young" person on your puter that a technician thinks might be underage (actual age is irrelevant, apparently) and brings it to the attention of the authorities.

A Townsville businessman was destroyed on flimsy evidence like that. The prosecution did not even need to prove he actually downloaded the image himself.

I am with you dishy. When Masterchef isn't on, I am a big fan of the collectors. And I'd always thought Andy and the lads would be a cool trio of mates to have.

I nearly fell over when I heard about it. I doubt the authorities and the ABC would be taking such decisive action if there wasn't "reasonable suspicion".

Nevertheless, I once had trouble with an infatuated and unstable female who turned criminally vindictive after I denied her advances. She made a claim to police and my employer that I had emailed her porn from work computers. It was absolute BS but I still had to spend 90 minutes with a CIB detective setting her story right.

Ummm...what happened?

From reading this thread, I assume someone named Andy has done something wrong (obviously, allegedly caught with certain images on a pc).

Which Andy are we referring to?

Regards
Marty

P.S. Obviously, I've never seen the show.

how do they know what it is if they haven't found it?

Someone on the IP will have accessed a flagged site. The Police issue a direction to the carrier (say Telstra) to disclose the operator and address of the connection and that will be the basis of the warrant.

When it comes to child porn/pedophilia i prefer the guilty until proven innocent route.

Evand, If you are outraged at paedophilia/child porn downloaders imagine how angry you would be if you were falsely accused of such a thing? I don't think they should be identified publicly until the case is over and they are found guilty.

I've lost count of the number of police stuff ups I've come accross in my time. In the 80s you simply had to complete grade 10 to qualifyfor the Queensland Police service- and guess what? most of that generation are now running the show!

He's a gonner. And he'll cop it in jail for good measure.

A pretty boy like him will be passed around like currency.

innocent until proven guilty.

Network unsecured? Just drive round suburbia and try and connect to any old connection, many are open. WEP is easy to hack and WPA is brute force and a little more time consuming - a few more minutes.

This would point to your IP address, but wouldn't show in your hard drive as having accessed something you haven't.

malicious persons can dump to the tif on your drive,
windows linux mac, makes no difference[sup]*2[/sup],
wireless open wpa wep, hardwired, makes no difference
as long as you have any browser open when the attempt is made
the protocols are published,
the bypass tools are also published,

If there are in the tif items relating to this event there is a possibiility that some person of malicious intent went hunting[sup]*1[/sup] for andy, very unlikely but possible
If however the items relating to this persecution, are elsewhere than the tif, they got there only 1 way, persecution -no, prosecution -yes, hang the *expletive deleted*

*1: force images into the tif, then inform the authorities of the existence, andy must have really *expletive deleted* somebody off
*2: on a windows pc an executable can be more easily executed from the tif

Very sad,it was one of the only shows on tv that i look foward to watching,or did everything from the site is gone,,I'll just wait for his time
in court the gutless media has already hung the young man even before he gets to put his hand on the bible..willair..

DHCP on the router you "hacked" would give you an address, your MAC address maybe logged against that ip depending on the hardware/software, but it is not a ISP address it is internal to the home network like a non-routable 192.168.x.x range, therefore virtually impossible to trace.
