One of those spec houses down the road from me sold

I had a wander through on Saturday before the auction. They packed a lot onto that piece of land. The finish inside was great. Not my style, but really well built.

Sold for $1.8m.

So the land had been held by the family forever - old Greek family. They would own other stuff around the suburb, too. There would have been some cost savings in building two identical houses, but they would have been an expensive build. I think the family have kept one and are renting it out.

Love that floor. Is it just polished concrete?

I love the house too, but wouldn't want to live beside another exactly the same. I wonder why these people don't make some changes so they don't look identical?

Yep, polished concrete.
They would have laid the slab and then put a topping mix with white cement and dark aggregate and then ground and polished it. The aggregate spread wasn't very even, which would have disappointed the architect. Pity they didn't use a more interesting aggregate, too.
Very easy floor to keep clean. I'm guessing it has heating through it, too, because it would be a cold house in winter otherwise.
