Painting over dark green gloss bathroom tiles

A house I'm looking at purchasing has dark green (almost black) high gloss bathroom tiles which make it very dark, it looks smaller and even though I think the tiles are relatively newly done makes the bathroom look dated.
Would it be possible to either paint over them myself or get one of those companies that comes and spray the whole bathroom?
I'm tempted to just opt to remove them all and redo - it would probably be charactering building!

You wouldn't be able to use normal paint over the tiles.

You will have to use tile paint or etching primer(undercoat) and then paint them over with normal paint.

If you use White Knight product the range of colour may be limited.

Could you install LED spots to throw cheap light onto the tiles. Might be rather dramatic. Or a solar tube? (Unless the tiles are ugly i would try to find a way to bring light in without touching them.)

Quite right. Just another tip - make sure the top-coat paint is an oil based enamel gloss. If you use a water based enamel, you won't get the same gloss level as what a normal gloss tile would throw (if you want a matte finish, ignore last comment!).

White Knight have done great marketing and many people believe you can only use their system to paint tiles. However, as long as you use a specialist tile primer, you can top coat in anything (and any colour you like as Meisterin said).

One more thing to note - don't paint the floor tiles! The only time I ever recommend floor tiles be painted is when a professional applicator does it.
