[PERTH] Recommend me a Building and Pest Inspector

Can anyone recommend a Building and/or Pest inspection service in Perth metro area?

A bit hesitant to go with the Seller's agent recommendation. I'm happy to pay a bit extra for a merticulous, thorough and accredited inspection - especially for the timber pest report.

Cheers!

I may know the director.. quite, quite well

Having said that have reffered work colleagues to him and all have told me they thought he was great I know he's conscientious .. Not without reaosn, some people ae sceptical of most operators n terms of what or how much chemical they use., with an inspection, what you wnat is someone who will actually check properly and not be too lazy to climb all the way up the ladder and into the roof space, not shine a torch for 10 secnds and call it termite free.

And watch out for the "oh, there are no termites, but they could pounce any minute..... unless you pay me $4K for a barrier" which just happened to the house mum is selling. Pfffffft!!!

Same with many building inspectors I am afraid. Make sure you meet the building inspector because what he says to your face will often be very different to what he writes in his report. He has to cover his butt, but often a house "that is in very good condition" appears on paper to be "almost falling down".

I have seen (and experienced) that one more times that I care to remember too.

wylie, well of course that is how termites turn up they just .... do...so that could happen to anything anywhere at any time which is not protected.....

it is supposedly a wise thing to do, but for crying out loud nothing to do with the pest controller's timing "lucky I'm here, they might turn up tmorrow !" lol

I agree wholeheartedly. This joker just wanted another $4K and if he gets one out of every five who are worried enough at his "disaster waiting to happen" remarks, he will make a nice little earner on the side.

He would be earning a living, he is in the business of selling termite treatments... they also do inspection reports too, but few would live off them

I do agree. However, a little more honesty and a little less scare tactics would be refreshing.

Our pest chap quoted us the barrier treatment for $1.5K using top of the range chemicals, but told us that there was really no need, and that regular inspections would pick up any infestation.

Big price difference between our chap and the inspector .

agreed to in initial post... $4k sounded pretty high (?) but I dont know the conditon, Pest Specialists would ! :)

Hi Guys, Conversation is running away from the initial post topic. The request is asking for a building inspector from Perth..

Anyone has good lues?. Good/Bad feedback on Archicentre??

Archicentre will "suggest" what you can do to the property as well, in an attempt to win business for further servces rendered. Whether this is of value to you or not is another thing entirely, but when we used them, they did a very thorough job.

bear in mind you cant really test electricals unless you're an electrician, but the inspector will be able to tell you if you're looking at a re-wire, at least.

We have used Cunningham Building Consultancy with good success and so have a few friends on our recommendation.

Norm is a retired builder and plumber with a lot of experience on Perth building sites and an eye for detail as well as good value. We have used a few and he has been the best to date. Recommended...

We have used Arrowpoint Inspections for our last two purchases, and on both occasions have been very happy with the report and also the general level of service. Both times we've gone for the comprehensive report rather than the standard, which for an extra $40 I thought was pretty good, but they're happy to offer both.

And no, other than those two times, I have no personal or professional affiliation with the owner/managers.

Definitely worth a call ;)
