Parents are always worried about you, this is nothing new. Hence they would rather you do something safe rather than something riskier but would make you more money.

Gosh that bought back memories. Second purchase after my divorce was a renovators opportunity, right beside a bad neighborhood on one side and a very good one on the other. My mother wasnt very well at that stage and so I would pick her up and sit her comfy in a chair to watch while I renovated. Well slowly my absolute enthusiasm and certainty that I would make money dissolved and panic started to set in. On analysing why my change of outlook I realised my mother was sitting there every weekend pouring negativity on everything connected with the venture. Loved my mother very much, but had to stop taking her with me. (Made good money on it!)
