I am very new to all this but here goes.My grandmother recently passed and has left our family with a brick house in panania NSW.The block is quiet large,650 sqm,so the real estate has said that more than likey the house will be knocked down and duplexs will be put up.We have had very conflicting appraisals from real estate agents regarding the value of the property.I dont want to get ripped off,but we really need to sell asap.What can I do?

I have 2 suggestions to establish the market value for you:
1. Hire a registered valuer, which you may have to do anyway if there is more than 1 beneficiary.
2. Engage a Buyers Agent, who will do essentially what the valuer would do, except it would not be a sworn valuation. Some Buyers Agents also offer a vendors advocacy service, where they help choose a competent selling agent to manage the sales process for you.
