Recommend Melbourne SE suburbs

Hi All,

Just got a quick question and hope you wonderful people here on the forum can recommend me which suburbs to pick.

Just want to buy a house, 3 bedder in the SE suburbs. What are your thoughts on Burwood / Clayton? or any other suburbs?

For a rental property but potentially will be a PPOR. Ideally want it close to train stations, have access to schools/uni's and hospitals and cant be too far out and has potential for growth.

thanks!

1. Ashwood is probably one that springs to mind:
- decent distances to EITHER train line (alamein or glenny)
- deakin uni around
- school wise I'm not so sure
- hosp not so sure

2. Wheelers Hill another:
- especially if you might consider it as PPOR; it's a nice family-orientated suburb (I'm tad biased having lived in GW/WH for almost 20 yrs)
- hospital: the valley private
- school: 10 min drive to GWSC (assuming you've already got into school and not try to buy into 'catchment' area, which is so tiny now...)

3. Burwood that you've talked about:
- not very close to train station
- but got trams
- decent distance to Box Hill

4. Clayton you've mentioned:
- IP-wise your target tenants would be students/young couples maybe?
- Got Monash MC; Monash Uni; train lines so all that's good
- But for a PPOR, maybe, maybe it won't be as ideal (depending on what you/your family prefers)
