I would highly recommend Surrey Air - professional, detailed quotes, punctual, and honest in giving advice about repair vs new installation - even if it meant a lesser fee for them.

Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum and definitely has been a good read seeing what tradies people use. Haven't seen many (if any) surveyors pop up so I'd like to offer my services. I run a small surveying company out in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and specialize in smaller (2-3 lot) developments.

I'm always happy to send out information to help people along, as it is quite a complex process! Feel free to contact me with any questions and I'll be glad to help, my email and website links are in my signature anyway :)

Regards,
Ashley Stacey

10/10 tiling service

I’ve been in the buying & selling trade for the past 20years & I've used numerous amounts of tradies. Tilers I’ve come across have been average to appalling ( not to mention what they charge you) So i Just wanted all to know if you need a tiler in Sydney area that I definitely recommend (actually - Dave recommended in older posts ) His name is Marcelo - 0418 457 406. I think his business is called Complete Floor Solutions if I'm not wrong. He has renovated our laundry & 2X bathroom. Waterproofed our bathrooms and included a certified waterproofing certificate (which i honestly had no idea you get >.< seeing my wife deals with all the paperwork’s) He also sealed all the stone flooring in the bathrooms. The tiling works are 10/10. This young man is neat, tidy & very polite.

Anyone know of good tradies in these areas in Brisbane:
- Paving
- Concreting
- Pool demolition

Also need a good timber supply company.... :)

Townsville painter and carpet supplier/layer

Would really appreciate a recommendation on a painter in the Townsville area and someone to re-carpet. May be a stab in the dark as it is a smaller market.

This marcello bloke is popping up everywhere on this forum.

To all members who used marcello, was he the best and cheapest out of the lot?Why did you choose marcello?

As per the thread regarding "mates rates" I am not really looking for "mates rates" as such, but like the idea of having tradies recommended. In my case we have used our kitchen cabinet maker for nearly 20 years, and sent him lots and lots of work, but he has now retired, so we are lost when it comes to who to chose for kitchens.

Same goes for our trusted pest man who passed away recently. He had an offsider who we have also known for a number of years, and he has started his own business so I will start the ball rolling by putting his name out there. He tells me there are plenty of "good" pest men but we know from recent experience (selling a house) that there are pest men who are simply trying to make lots of money by scaring potential purchasers.

Anyway, our pest man in Brisbane is Wayne Creed who trades as Rifle Pest Management, phone 3273 5881, mobile 0412 489 710.

Perhaps if people add to this, if they state the city or town first so that others can search the thread easily for local tradies.

If someone has a more efficient way of listing these, or making it easier to search the thread (assuming it gets added to) I am happy to hear it.

Also... Tudor / Wes from Tudor's pest control - outstanding duo and their beagle dog is pretty cool too! http://www.tudorspestcontrol.com.au/

Hi virgo,

$90k for a 45sqm brick granny flat sounds a bit expensive to me (that's $2k/sm!), but of course it all depends on your backyard's topography sewers position etc.----I also intend to build up a granny flat in my backyard, and was reading the posts about granny flats by Serge (member of this forum) and even started contacting him (with a very small initial payment fee for him to find out whether I could build it or not)--the result was Yes I could but the nasty sewer position in my backyard makes 10-day approval design difficult so I am a bit hesitating now and also busy with other things--well, from what Serge estimated, it would be roughly $70-85k for a 60sqm--am I right Serge if you happen to have seen this post?--later on, I personally made a few phone calls from local newspaper to a few builders, and from what I gathered, it should be most likely somewhere between $60-$80k for a 60sm all depening on your finishes and fixtures etc. ---one thing is sure, going brick instead of cladding for a granny flat shouldn't add more than 5k or 7k of costs for such a small area building really...

Good luck with your granny flat building anyway. Well, I also live in Sydney region, maybe we could share tradies info for such building, if you also think yes, you could PM me, so we could exchange info.
