Renovation costs estimate

Hi all,

Am new to this forum and wondering what it would cost to rennovate an old 3 bedroom house into the following (http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-bentleigh+east-118933343)

What sort of time commitment would it take as well.

A lot. You need some before photos to know but it's practically a new house! 300k and 6 months. Give or take 100k and 3 months

Looking at the link below, the house was bought for 680 in 2011. The place has been re-configured and looks quite nice. If such a rennovation has cost 300 - 400k, the price of 940 - 980 would seem low?

Ahh... your forgetting the Melbourne market and our lovely RE Agents.
$940-980k means the vendors want $1.1mill....

300-400 is on the extreme case. You could build that house from scratch for 300.

I did one similar but a weatherboard 6 months ago for 130k

From your experience, would it be cheaper renovate or break down and rebuild?

I would be grateful if you could break down how you spent the 130k. Are you a builder, DIY guru or project managed using external help?
