Ridiculous real estate spiels

In post war London, estate agent Roy Brooks was famous for his warts and all adverts:

DARKEST PIMLICO. A large Victorian family house, entrance flanked by pillars, pathetically waits for purchaser. The bath shrouded by thickening dust. Torn up by its roots the missing geyser leaves a gaping hole?. Groping in the basement (3 rooms), our intrepid representative stumbled against an ancient brick copper: presumably the kitchen. Long 80 yrs. lse. G.R. ?60 p.a. A gift at ?6,990.

Said house would probably now be in mid seven digits!

That's awesome!

Roy Brooks continues the tradition today, at least through their photos, especially of the bathroom.

Eg this 125k pound cheapie. http://www.roybrooks.co.uk/property...-colegrove-road-in-peckham-se15/royb-004962/2

Here's another of theirs that has the bathroom sink as an afterthought http://www.roybrooks.co.uk/property...-hill-road-in-east-dulwich-se22/royb-008888/1

And this delight in Camberwell has the microwave right under the kitchen sink, usable if you can survive stepping over the toilet to get in the bath/shower. http://www.roybrooks.co.uk/property/flat-for-sale-on-sedgmoor-place-in-camberwell-se5/royb-008693/1

An 'up and coming area' appears to be Cockney for 'ghetto'.

For the budding tycoon, this one offers the potential to house a lodger on a mezzanine floor: http://www.roybrooks.co.uk/property...ale-on-rye-lane-in-peckham-se15/royb-009062/1 While it's 5 years old its brick style is that of a bland 1960s main road shop.
