Ripped off by repairman - question about what I can do?

I had a similar thing happen to me 1.5 years ago with Ducted Gas Heating unit in one of my IPs.

Tenants complained it stopped working. Since I self manage started calling few companies who specialise for that brand. Paid callout fee of around $120 and they advised digital control unit needs replacing. Costs around $550. I said fine go ahead and replace it.

They replaced it and things started working for 2 days and then again stopped working. So I call the same company to investigate. This time around they advise me to put a new unit in costing from memory over $2500. I thought what the heck let me get another quote.

So called up another company to go have a look. Got a call in the evening from the tenants advising gas heater is back up and running. Surprised I called the second company to find out what the problem was and he advised me the wiring was wrong. He fixed the wiring and advised the unit is in good condition and just needs the yearly service before winter. Only cost was callout fee of $120. The unit is still going strong.

Cheers,
Oracle.
