Roof insulation turns houses 'live'

The onus is now back on the consumer to check that the insulation is being correctly installed. How ridiculous. Who is an expert?

The onus is now back on the consumer to pay upfront and then obtain a refund. As if this will stop overpricing. What if there is a dispute? How ridiculous.

The problem is there should have been applications of license for Roof Insulation involved in the early stages. Before the rebate started there should have been a process where installers applied for a free License to install based on their experience.

This would have stopped Dodgy Bros from started up a business without any expertise.

Just another reason to vote Liberal.

Ironically the installers for my own insulation were due to come today, yet rang and left a message yesterday while I was at work asking for confirmation? They DID have my mobile. :(

You ever thought about running as the local Lib candidate Jo?
You seem to have the common sense, fire, and get up and go....
And you can learn the rest on the fly :)

And imho, I think the free marketeers and libertarians need to front up with the same zeal as the enviro nazis and socialists.....put them in their place....

Garrett has just cost thousands of jobs and cost some companies millions with the stock that they have stored up to do jobs with that is now worthless.

when is the election???

Yeah i'm one of them.
I hold shares in UXC and its cost me a 20% loss on purchase price so far.
Half year report was terrible with significant expenses incurred to close down operations in this area.

Worked for Peter Garrett ...... even after this arvo's announcement, where he'll be joining Maxine McKew in doing nothing much at all really, he will still get a fat pension for life. :)

Nah, Not Retirement, he's releasing a new album

Midnight Foil - Bats Are Burning

Second bite of the cherry?

Insulation installers making second profit by selling client names

NAMES and contact details of home owners who installed roof insulation under the failed $2.45 billion stimulus program are being bought and sold for up to $100 each by entrepreneurs who profited from the Rudd government scheme and are now cashing in on the clean-up operation.
The government has offered to pay for safety checks of all 50,300 homes fitted with foil insulation, after it was discovered inept installers had caused some roofs to become electrified.

Electricians can bill up to $400 for each safety check, or more if they can justify the expense.

Last week, the government said it would also pay to remove foil or fit safety switches in all 50,300 homes because of ongoing safety risks. Electricians can bill the government for this work, which is expected to cost up to $1000 a home.
