Shipping containers

Wow, never thought investment options like these would exist. I've clearly got no experience but will be following this thread with interest to see if other members do have experience and what's their take on it.

Shipping containers are like milk cartons. They have a use by date and are valueless for freight.

http://www.royalwolf.com.au/ is a great success story for recycling these huge steel pieces of junk. We used to buy / rent them for construction projects as nobody can easily access them when they are properly locked. All materials and site tools can be left in situ and when job is done float it out to office or to next project. They have found many other uses incl classrooms, medical evac, military, etc....Easy to fitout as they are modular.

The cost of rental indicates their value. We only bought one then found rental the smart option. You cant even truck them long distance when they are out of date.

Wolf told me they lose HEAPS to theft. Hey its the construction industry !! Since they acquire them for almost nothing I suspect they don't care. Some have been used to bury stolen car bodies and other bodies by OMCGs.

Pine Plantations, Emu Eggs, ATMs, Shipping Containers.................

...........can you see where this is going?

<<So companies similar to this http://pacifictycoon.com/ are promising a guaranteed return of 12% for the purchase of a shipping container and then leasing it to shipping companies ? or more than 12% if you give up the guarantee, with an initial investment of only $4100 USD.

From their website, the container will be bought back at the end of a 3yr lease for the original capital value, and is insured against container loss, destruction, etc.>>

Like car parking spaces, I imagine the profit is in the management of the contract.

What are the fees and charges of the company finding you and managing these rental agreements... Brilliant.

I did think about it but got scared off by thought of what was being stored, etc. meth lab, drugs, stolen goods and insurance issues.

Twenty foot containers can be purchased for less than $2,000.

These people want double the price.....

Just the same, it seems like an interesting venture. Definitely not an investment for widows, orphans or the faint hearted.
