I think porn is in the eye of the beholder. If it turns someone on then it's porn to them, whether there's nudity or not. And if someone else sees an image as art and isn't turned on, then it's not porn to them, whether there's nudity or not.

There is however one exception to the rule: If it was Miranda Kerr it was porn :p

I don't doubt there are people out there that think a fully dressed woman exposing arms, legs and a little cleavage is porn too.

However, regardless of personal definition, you would have to assume that if an image is not one that has been censored (and I don't believe this would qualify) it would not be porn in the eyes of the law (our defining benchmark ).

What gets me is if he was woman looking at say David Beckham in undies" it would be all about empowerment , equality and not porn. Double standards.

I am starting to think the same way about that word Cougar. Its getting glorified so much nowadays its getting boring.
If its an older man with a younger woman , he's a dirty old ba***rd.

Nah, he's either:

1. Rich
or
2. Lucky :D

Waiting in line at the supermarket you get to see similar images of the rich and famous in the magazine racks enticing you to buy for the diet & gossip secrets

The news has certainly done no harm to Miranda Kerr she shows up on the yahoo home page each time of late

Talk about a storm in a tea cup!

Obviously the couch potatoes have nothing better to do! Obviously they never walk into, past or near a Newsagency, they never turn the radio on to hear "want to last longer in the bedroom" with a row of kids in the backseat, they never go to the beach because of all the 'soft porn', they don't touch the blasphemous Myer catalogue for fear of catching a glimpse of the lingerie page...

Give me a break!!!

Not that we'll probably hear about it as it won't be in the headlines anymore, but now that they've said he won't be fired - would be interesting to see if he's still at MCQ in 12 months time.

Like that Westpac woman who accidently transferred the $10M. Wasn't fired for that, but she was let go a few months later at a regular performance review.

If the bloke is doing his work who cares?

Maybe just me, but i think people need to lighten up!

Thanks Lil Skater as your younger and female viewpoint is valued.

The facts are:

a) he could be a bludger and surfs all the time and should go
b) he could have finished a 10 hr day, zonked out and tricked in opening the email

We will never no. Had he looked at anything other than he did he would have escaped, he could have been surfing SS!

For all of us here presently reading SS in your emplyers work time and thinks he did the wrong thing, you are doing the same thing. As for me, I work for myself so my time is my own.

Ouch! *Looks guiltily over shoulder* - nope, no cameras!

LOL no offense intended but you can see my point. If we truely applied to work use only at work rules we would never allow checking the News, Weather or Bus Timetable.

FYI I employ staff and use a sophisticated law program to prepare the latest work contracts. It says “Incidental use is allowed” Yes offensive use is banned but what is offensive? Is looking at RSPCA sites outlining cruelty offensive? To some yes. IS looking at the latest Victoria Secret Catalogue to buy your girlfriend lingerie offensive? Is reading Mein Kamp offensive? No you say, freedom of the press, but in Germany you would go to Jail.

Not black and white.

Excellant definition, Peter

Absolutely see your point - our workplace has the same conditions. Even a specific clause about "not running a business". Does that include share trading? What about checking bank deposits (say rent?)

Reasonable to one is not reasonable to another - hence the multitude of ATO private rulings! :p

Very grey.

True. In fact many rules are the bleeding obvious because of todays lack of responsibility in individuals and twisting by solicitors as a defense, " ohhh , I should not have taken the Money"

now, this is the reason why Macquarie bank screwed up their performance and funds big time!

It certainly isn't efficient when they are working on the computer with only one hand, while the other hand is busy!

If his workmate sent it to him, that means they do regularly surf pictures and junk emails in the office. No wonder it always takes days and weeks for Macquarie bank to reply to email questions.....
