Silly XMas song questions

The song that starts off, 'I saw mummy kissing Santa Claus, underneath the mistle toe last night...' has bothered me a tad. Never thought of it this way as a kid but, is mummy having an affair with Santa or is it daddy dressed up? Can't remember how the rest goes.

Also, does anyone else feel sad for Frosty the Snowman? I used to get really upset that Frosty had so little time to dance around before he melted.

Any other disturbing XMas songs anyone remembers?

As a kid I always thought it was having an affair, now I know Santa isn't real, I guess the song isn't as bad...but yes, it should only be sung to adult audiences. I went to carols the other night and a 8 year old girl was singing it.

I think the first time I heard Frosty was the other night. haha. i didn't understand most of it (kids singing)

So it IS about mummy & santa doing something naughty - he should cross himself off his own present list!

We're off to Carols on sunday with our lil 'un, so should be a hoot!

BTW Love love love Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer...hmmm, come to think of it, was he imbibing & that resulted in his red nose?

I saw mummy kissing santa clause,
Underneath the christmas tree last night,
And what a sight it would have been,
If daddy had only seen,
Mummy kissing santa clause last night!

That song is 'tongue in cheek'. Because the kids think it is outrageous - mummy kissing santa clause (gosh he must be a good fellow!) While all the adult 'know' santa really is daddy. ;) Used to be my favourite christmas carol as a little kid. My DD thinks its great too, and likes to tease my DH that "mummy is kissing santa".

Frosty the snowman - it's not like he dies, he comes back again when it snows again the next year (although if you watch the cartoons, he actually ends up living in the northpole: so he never has to melt). The magic that gives him life is in the silk hat - so as long as the hat is safe, frosty will live again.

Awww, thanks rugrat. I always felt like he died, but after your assurances re the silk hat, I feel much more inclined to sing the song!

Thanks :)

I still the the mummy kissing santa one's a bit suss tho' ;)

Its sung by a little kid who saw his mum kiss his dad whilie he was stiull wearing the santa suit... the kid doesnt kjnow dad is the only santa.....

It's supposed ot be a cute story about how kids beleive in Santa I think

Like may mate's stroy of one time when he dressed in a santa suti and came into visit his son .. he had to sneak pout of th eroom without this son noticing... he got changed in the garage pouttin gon the whole suit, stuffing to mak ehis skinny frame look plump, beard, hat, the works... .excpet for his shoes... he forgot to chagne his shoes... In he goes, the son gets surprised, then confused, with a big smil eon his face like woiw, is this real, look muym, it's real.. then he stared straight at santa's shoes... sort of puzzled look like he was asking himself "why is santa wearing my dad's shoes ?"! then the excitement of it all obviously took over and he didnt care/forgot about the shoes and was just glad santa came especially to visit him...all the others in the room felt it was such a cute moment he's 15 this year, wow how time flies..

Ahhh, that's a cute story too jaycee. Lovely how kids can suspend reality (ignore the dad's shoes) & totally let go in their imaginary world :)

We were rehearsing for our church Christmas show and singing the song let it snow when the girl leading sang, "I've bought some porn for copping" instead of 'corn for popping'. She wasn't the only one embarrassed:eek:

That Santa is not only kissing Mum but he's a messy fellow, Last Year he only ate half his biscuit we left him and didn't drink all the milk, he also left white footprints from where his sleigh landed (and left marks) in the back yard to the back door.

The elves usually fill the room with balloons overnight which is a big hit with the toddlers

We did appreciate them setting up the swing set for the kids overnight though and leaving all our presents under the tree

Santa should really come back on boxing day and take the boxes away, that would be a big help

Rudolph only had a few nibbles on the carrot we left him as usual, other than that you wouldn't have known they had been.

How did everyone else's visit go last year?

Golly Redwing,

Santa goes all out at your place!

I bet mum & dad were tired the next day....from cleaning up after Santa of course!

Do not construe the above as financial advice, for that I suggest you seek the services of a paid professional, who above all else, knows the true value of a trailing commission ;o)

Loving the applicability of the disclaimer on that one =p

I'm pretty sure that he did at my house when we were kids...... I know I didn't clean it up, so must have been santa, who else could it have been ?

That song can be naughty too.. the kids the other night sang it "won't you come and slay tonight" then followed up with jingle bells and says "sing a slaying song tonight"

Then again, if they are killing those twilight "vampires" then I say go for it.

Just "found" Santa's letter to the kids...I better place them on their bed-side table so they can read them in the morning ;)

They were shattered after a big day out and then visiting the christmas lights and decorations around the local suburbs

Hope santa takes it easy this year and doesn't have to put together swing sets or trampolines throughout the night with the elves. The kids left him some gingerbread house remants (it collapsed in construction this week so became a 'manger') and milk out

This thread reminded me about Lil when she was younger. She used to sing "We wish it was Merry Christmas, we wish it was Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year".

It still brings a smile to my face every time I hear the "proper" version. :D
