Social Attitude Test

Progressivism 70
Socialism 31.25
Tenderness 37.5

Your test scores indicate that you are a tough-minded progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a journalist. It appears that you are distrustful towards religion, and have an indifferent and uncompassionate attitude towards humanity in general.

Can one be uncompassionate towards humanity and progressive at the same time? Apparently yes, which begs the question, what is "progress"?

Sounds about right

Progressivism 62.5
Socialism 31.25
Tenderness 25

Your test scores indicate that you are a tough-minded progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a nihilist. It appears that you are distrustful towards religion, and have an indifferent and uncompassionate attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a libertarian.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a sensible realistic centrist with few strong convictions.

Progressivism 57.5
Socialism 56.25
Tenderness 87.5

Your test scores indicate that you are a very tender-minded cultural centrist; this is the political profile one might associate with a community volunteer. It appears that you are accepting of religion, and have a compassionate and sympathetic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear neither committedly capitalist nor socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a liberal.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a kind-hearted pascifistic egalitarian with an established worldview.

Yep. Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit on a boat all day drinking beer! :)

Teach a man to light a fire, he'll be warm for a night
Light a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Traditional conservative - support for the monarchy

The other stuff - on the other hand I have some attitudes that the Church positively hates. I've been thrown out of a few over the years for telling their leaders where they are going wrong. Gosh, now I'm confused. O yeah, earlier in the year when we were debating gay marriage, a couple of our younger posters had a go at the very traditional conservative views I expressed.

Anyway I'm always up for a debate with you, Cimbom. I used to be a Socialist in my younger days before the Christians corrupted me :)

My score

Progressivism 60
Socialism 18.75
Tenderness 46.875

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded cultural centrist; this is the political profile one might associate with a jaded materialist. It appears that you are tolerant towards religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear laissez-faire capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a libertarian.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a sensible idealistic centrist with an established worldview.

Mr Fab
Can you explain/interpret what this all means/my score, I am mentally challenged with this stuff, will I fit into society;)

The sight of young men with long hair is unpleasant.

Open minded cultural centrist means you're open to almost all ideas and don't really take a stand either way. That is, you don't consider yourself 'Left' or 'Right'. You accept religion and you like most people.

Economically, you're conservative with an outlook that is mostly associated with near right/centre right views. Pretty much the standard political stance for about 80% of Somersofters (based on political discussions).

A sensible idealistic centrist with an established worldview would see the world *mostly* for what it is, but with a tinge of idealism that it could potentially be a better place if we all held hands and gave each other hugs or something along those lines.

Side note: I used to have hair half way down my back when I was a young(er) fella. Although I never thought of myself as 'The Most Beautiful Man in The Cosmos, ah ah ah'.

Of course you can. Heard the story about teaching a man to fish and all that?

See ya's.

Would you teach him anything if you have zero concern for him (or people of his kind)? Surely you must have a modicum of feeling for his needs and you want to help him in some way. Compassion has to come in somewhere in the picture even in minute quantity.

All progressive causes by the way involve some degree of compassion, be it equality, non-discrimination, human and animal welfare, freedom, social justice, education etc... The lessening of suffering is at the centre of it all (even though some of the policies have achieved the opposite :D and that explains why some very compassionate people choose to be un-progressive!)

Now I'm not criticizing anyone for their test result, just questioning the design of a test that gives rise to an impossibility.

Your test scores indicate that you are a tender-minded cultural centrist; this is the political profile one might associate with a protective parent. It appears that you are accepting of religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a neoconservative.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a considerate idealistic centrist with few strong convictions.

This concludes our analysis; we hope you found your results accurate, useful, and interesting.

Fascinating. Some of these questions are not what I would usually entertain or ask of myself. Much of the description is spot on although I would not say that I have (only a) few strong convictions.

Interesting nevertheless.

All progressive causes by the way involve some degree of compassion, .

Maybe our definition of "Progressive" differs? But I don't see why it's linked to compassion? To me progressive means improving things. If a society can't improve itself due to factors linked to religion, or the way women are treated, or whatever, there's nothing I can do about it. So I don't.

See ya's.

The 'Progressive' metric was previously called 'Radicalism'. Read the definition below and guide to the score.

Radicalism
Radicalism measures your views on social issues like abortion, marriage, immigration, and euthanasia. A low score represents a serious concern about these issues and a support for regulation: reclaim art, define marriage, control borders, etc. A high score represents a more relaxed view.
