St Ives, Turramurra, Pymble

We are considering moving our PPOR to the lower north shore so the search begins here. Proximity to rail is paramount, is there anything else that we would need to be aware of prior to our search ? Thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom from the locals.

Yes.
To start with, the suburbs you mentioned are Upper north shore

And St Ives doesn't have a train station.

The public transport isn't great in St Ives. There are buses to Gordon and Pymble. However, pending where in St Ives you are, they usually take long routes and don't have great timetables.

There is a decent bus route during peak hour times that goes to the City via East Killara, East Lindfield and Roseville and vice versa which takes about 45 minutes.

Pymble and Turramurra have good train stations, albeit with not too much parking. Gordon has a greater amount of services as express trains stop there and some trains terminate there which can be annoying if you're wanting to go one or two extra stops but not the end of the world.

Also, with more and more residential and mixed-use apartment blocks going up under the Ku-Ring-Gai Town Centres LEP, the area will be changing in the next few years (particularly the business/mixed use areas around Turramurra Station)

Eastern side of anything there is fantastic but you are paying a premium so it comes down to budget.

Some places in St Ives is quite close to Gordon station so I wouldn't rule that out completely.
