Housing crisis continues to worsen in the Stockholm region. 2012 was almost 400,000 people in the queue at the City's housing agency. It is a new record, while the average waiting time at the apartments in the county is now over seven years

The Co-Op owns 28% of rentals but has 0% available

Kungsholmen has a waiting list of 17 years.

According to Nobel-prize winning economist Paul Krugman, Sweden is in a "significant housing bubble" with housing prices rising 300% in the last 13 years.

In order to provide housing for young people and students they have made recent changes to the law, making it easier to get permission to build small apartments in attics
 
Super high cost of living coupled with high standard of living. Funny thing is, other Swedish cities like Malmo don't impose such waiting lists.

This topic is so easy to understand.

Step back and think why is demand/supply so imbalance?
Could it because of too much beurocracy and government interference.
Restrictive tenancy laws?

Not going near this. Yes there might be money to be made if the pressure is enough, ie might be a good trading opportunity.

But my 'risk' scanner is going off like mad.

I don't have sufficient knowledge, therefore staying well away.
