Can anyone give us a reasonable estimate what we should be paying for a =tax
return preparation.
We have 4IPs split 50:50, everything else pretty standard.

My tax return costs for 1999/2000 (I'm just putting the finishing touches to 2000/2001) was $290, plus GST of $29. That was in respect of 4 IP's, now 5 IP's in Parramatta.

The Tax agent is in Chatswood, and he has been my Tax agent for some 6 years.

Hi Guys
I was very surprised by my accountants bill, it was $1300.00!for mine and my wifes.
We have only just started on our road to financial freedom with 2 I.P's. also had some Cap-Gains & Losses to deal with on the shares front! I asked Nivia (The Wife) what she thought of the charges and she said it was a bit exspensive for what he had to do. But as it is a tax deduction (For next year)i dont mind to much.

Hi,

I think your accountant was saying "I really don't want to work too hard, so I'm gunna charge ya heaps, if it drives you away and leaves me alone good, if not, I'm gunna make some $$ for my effort, and tell your friends, so they dont bother me"

Regards

It looks like he charged you as business not like private person's tax return.
Do you have any business registered under you name by any chance?

Serge.

The reason I asked as I think our accountant fees are excessive. We've
received a bill for $1600! for myself and wife.
4IPs and everything else pretty standard (we provided full records of all
income and expenditure). The same accountant also did our tax variation form
a few months back (and charged separately for) which included almost all the
info in the tax return. The 2000-2001 tax return is almost the same as tax
variation form so we're not sure why we have been charged so much for
something with is effectively the same.

Yes I know its tax deductible but its still a fair whack for what appears to
be little work.

I'll be contacting them in the New Year to discuss it as its far more than
they originally quoted.

Comments please . . .

Ian
