I understood it as if it was a free upgrade.

Because they made the comment they didn't want to be greedy.

But I'm confused as to what they wish to get out of it.

I watched them being interviewed on TV, it was a current affair or today tonight - last week.

You really do have to feel sorry for these people...

That said, they were offered the penthouse for an extra $230k (2:08 on video) - which granted the probably can't afford. But then the buyer reckons a property similar to what they put their money down for now would cost them "$250k more easily" (2:25).

Assuming the penthouse would have been more expensive to start off with, would it be worth their while to proceed with the penthouse purchase, sell it and find something else (if it is that impracticable to have a penthouse apartment with two kids - I'm guessing they really wanted that court yard).
