Urgent Help - Building Insurance Cover

Hi all,

We have an IP with a granny flat. the main house and granny flat rent out separately under 2 contracts.

We talked to most of the major insurance companies and were told they will not provide insurance in these circumstances. To make things simple, we only asked the building insurance not landlord insurance which covers rent default as well.

The insurers only insure the property under One single tenancy agreement.

Your recommendation is needed to provide us the information about which company will provide such insurance cover. We selfmanage the lease.

Any insurance brokers here can provide us some of your thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Bump!

Read some of the posts at another thread that someone has 6 leases under 3 titles. Must have encountered the same problems before. Am I the only person here targeted by the insurance company.

Hi there
as for the 6 leases under 3 titles - that could be a strata title situation - where the body corporate insures the buildings and the individual owners deal with their contents.

Just wondering if you have approached an insurance broker who could review the matter with you - as it may be your inquiries are being made with the wrong parties at the major insurance companies.
thanks

Thanks. I am contacting the insurance brokers now to sort this out. Also who has the experience of arranging building/landlord insurance for group house?
