What did you used to do?

Bayview's "what do you do?" thread has got me thinking of what I used to do or have done for a crust.

I've been a:

pizza delivery driver
door to door salesman
telemarketer
inbound call centre worker
product development manager for a finance firm
laborer
equities and derivatives trader
data entry
mortgage clerk
corporate actions officer
share registry clerk
glassy
copywriter
features writer - restaurant reviews
book keeper
barman
fast food franchisee
stockbroker
clothes security tag inserter (all I did for two whole weeks)
online marketing team manager
and am currently a digital strategist (professional Facebooker)

can't believe i've crammed all this in and love the fact that i've tried a few things.

So tell me, what did you used to do?

Wanted to be a tournament professional golfer...did the 3 year Traineeship in the proshop and tried to get ready for it.

What stopped me?

Started playing the circuit with almost no money up my sleeve, and very quickly spent what I had on travelling costs (back then it was approx $500 per week minimum to get around Aus). Pro-am prizemoney is pathetic unless you are in top 3, and I couldn't make a cut in the big events (made the cut in the 1983 Huntingdale Masters however - only event I managed it).

Returned to Melb with no money, no car (hit a kangaroo in QLD), nowhere to live and no job...had to board with a mate, go back to work to get back on my feet, and by the time I had enough of a cashroll to proceed, I had realised that I wasn't all that good and would no doubt lose it all again.

Went into running proshops and teaching.

Things I've done -
1. As above; 30 years in industry all up, and included most of below along the way...
2. Barman; 2 years
3. Menswear retail; 2 years
4. Real Estate sales; 3 months
5. Ran a B&B with my wife; 2 years
6. Nurse assistant in ICU; 3 years.
7. House dad (in USA); 3 years.
8. Automotive repairs and tyre business owner;current for last 4 years.
