What do you claim at TAX time for your IP?

As an interesting point, all accountants have a rating with the ATO (bit like a rating 1 with your insurance company). If the accountant is rated a "1" then he/she is in the good books with the ATO, they don't do anything dodgy and stay away from clients who, shall we say, like to press the envelope. Rating 10 means the ATO has its next 12 months work set-out auditing all your clients.

Is there any way of finding out what an accountants rating is?

Ok! Very interesting! My hubby was all set to go in and say to our accountant to just claim away, we are so over it, but... now I've read your post I'll get him to read it first and think it over some more.

Boof, I'm just going to ask him next I speak with him. Sure, he might not answer me but I'm pretty sure he will as he is so conservative he's bound to be a 1 or 2.

would this hold true for only having one IP?

Thanks

I doubt it. Rixter has a large portfolio and is a regular contributor here. It is reasonable that he would spend a considerable time on the internet dealing with property related activities.

On the otherhand someone with one IP and 11 posts does not.
