Contracts admin for an industrial builder. Looking to maybe move in to FIFO work, seems like I'm in the right place to ask some questions. You can all expect some questions in your inbox soon :p.

What haven't I done!

I started my life studying law at the ANU, got very, very bored and left after year 1 to join the Army.

Spent 5 years in service, with the last 2 being part of 4RAR(Cdo) - deployed to Afghanistan and East Timor, and ended up falling out of a blackhawk and wrecking my back.

Retrained in real estate (go figure!), and moved to London where I ended up running a sales team. Met my now wife (who managed the letting team), and stole her back to Australia.

7 years ago we set up our own real estate agency here in Canberra, and built it to 11 staff, 600+ property managements, and sales in excess of $300,000,000.

Have purchased 11 investment properties, and have sold off some of them due to restructuring for cash flow. Have paid the majority of the properties down, and am now "living" off the cash flow.

Right now we're in no mans land, as we have a serious illness in the family. Once this is finished, we will be moving to Phuket (Thailand), and setting up a base for our new businesses, which are all property related (and some charity work thrown in for good measure).

I am passionate about property, investment, and people who give it a go; whether it's in business, or just life in general.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to say how great it's been chatting with you guys so far, and I'm very happy that I'm slowly becoming part of this community.

Have a great weekend all!

I run the office side of our business which does handyman work for rental properties, atm sales and maintenance, security cameras, and we live on a farm - lychees and mangoes (but we mainly just eat them :D). I also do everything to do with our investing, managing PM etc.

Yep, living expenses come out at $37k a year $17 of which is travel costs. A few downsides but I'm trying my best to work out the kinks. Lived in Bali for a while as well but thailand is more relaxed imo.

We're moving out there shortly (next few months), will be starting off in Phuket.

Seems super cheap, so can't wait!

Might see you over there!

Cheap if you get out of phuket quickly  nah its ok for a visit, I'd highly recommend chaing mai, never seen so much beauty as what I found in the mountains up north.

I live like a king but that's because I live in a small coastal town that no tourists really come to.

Public servant working in a specialist area - essentially a policy/communication/marketing/events management type of position. It's a very rewarding and positive job which I normally love, although it has been very stressful lately.

Phuket!
I'm moving there too.
Excuse the Thai...

Consulting Traffic/Transport Engineer. Been doing that for 25 years come this December.

Work for myself from a home office which allows me time to spend in my IP pursuits.

Actually, I don't work too hard. Most stuff these days is pro-forma reporting that I've set up over the years. Can punch out a report in no time, but charge the going rate for a tidy profit. :p
