What have you achieved this year!!

2014 has been a great year.

  • Had our first baby - a healthy little boy
  • Saw Brisbane Roar win their third Championship in four years
  • Travelled to Brazil for the Fifa World Cup
  • Purchased IP#3 - our first development site, construction to begin (and hopefully finish) in 2015
  • My wife received a full time research scholarship to complete her PHD
  • I moved to a new role within the same company, getting a payrise in the process

We completed our first subdivision this year. Good to get it sorted finally.

Slab is booked in to start mid Jan on the block which will be our first build also. The proceeds of which will be getting us into our long term ppor (20+ acres) then we can start looking for some more developments, Excited for 2015.

Very inspiring to read other folks' achievements.

- read about 20 property investment books
- went to Bali with my daughter
- visited Melbourne for the 1st time
- visited Brisbane for the first time
- holiday in penang and langkawi
- celebrated our 10th wedding anniversay
- bought IP 7 & 8 in Brisbane
- settling on new PPOR
- die has been cast to develop and build 3 villas

Wow, amazing replies from everyone.

Ive had a great year apart from 1 thing.
Paid off PPOR (offset=loan) no more non deductible debt for Nattl3s.
IP #2 (not the least bit cash flow positive)
Holiday to Thailand/Malaysia coming up in 16 days :)
Been to Townsville and Melbourne this year on hols.
Been keeping fit and keeping the weight off.
My garden looks fantastic.

The 1 thing - dad ended up in emergency for 3 days with a pulmonary embolism. He's fine now but it was a massive wake up call for the whole family. Hes a fit healthy 60 year old but a smoker - it was a bit of a shock. Hes given up smoking now - thank goodness!!

I guess i mention it because we all feel we were very lucky and that lifes short and the best thing you can have is family and your health.

All the best for the New Year!

yes good thread!

- finished granny flat build on IP2 (well, the builder did). in western sydney in feb
- spent a month in africa. including 2 weeks safari'ing around tanzania
- in process of buying IP 3 and 4 in adelaide. should both be cashflow positive

Very good thread. Lots of achievements.
- started following many posts on this forum - greatly contributing to my education
- read plenty of books and magazines on investing
- purchased first IP
- refinanced
- Built a great team to support future property investing
- Had a major operation and recovered well
- sorted insurances and wills - long overdue
- wrote a strategy - our goals and how we are going to get there
- sacrifices - made plenty to reach our goals

Feeling good about what we have done this year.

wow, people here sure are inspiring!

for me 2014 has been about:
living again with my two kids for 9 months in Canberra, probably for the last time together (he is now in Melbourne, she is still in Canberra)
learning Spanish (probably intermediate now, but still learning)
riding my bike to class every day (really loved that)
moved to Buenos Aires
now trying to learn Argentine Spanish - think Spanish with an Italian accent, spoken very quickly!
paid off all non-mortgage debt
have been lucky to receive excellent performance reviews
trying to adjust to this new kidless phase of my life (any hints welcome!)
met heaps of new people, met with old friends, and learned a lot.
travelled to Perth, Sydney, Bermagui, Bateman's Bay and Buenos Aires.

Bought 1st IP (after PPOR purchase last year)
Full registration as a psychologist :D
Also bought an engagement ring...;)

My 2014 achievements:

- Completed my Post Graduate at university
- Saved Money
- Found Somersoft and created an account
- Potentially bought my First IP - waiting on finance

Had a bit of a rough year with a death in the family.

But still did a full renovation of my ppor . Kitchen, bathrooms, flooring. Suspended ceiling. Was very daunting and hard work but I have learnt a lot of new skills and contacts that I will be using for my future renos/building ventures.

Haven't finished but will be moving in the new year away from parents so looking forward to that lol

Decided what to do with other IPs in the new year.

Realised quantity is not always quality when it comes to IPs

Well done and I sort of know what you went through to get registration as a Psychologist,iv'e been running my youngest daughter up and down the coast to find a placement to do her masters next year high pressure times ,,well done and good luck..

Thanks for sharing all the motivational posts above everyone!

- Completed a second (and totally different) degree.
- Purchased a second IP (waiting for it to finish building)
- Had some tough times but rolled through them OK, good learning experience
- Completed my first triathlon
- Completed my first 70.3 ironman
- Realised that equity gained from IP1 may fund PPoR purchase or IP3, running out of 2014 so should provide good news for 2015. This investment thing isn't at all bad =-)
