What is the most risky thing you have ever done?

Risk is mostly about perception.
The most risky thing I actually do is probably get into my car and drive. Though the generally perceived risk of this activity is low.

I free dive ? regularly with sharks ? and to depths incomprehensible to many. Real risk is reasonably low ? perceived risk is high.

I am going skydiving ? perceived risk is high, real risk is relatively low.

I invest in property and shares and business. Perceived risk relatively high (generally speaking) ? it has risks, though in reality NOT investing is guaranteed to keep me poor. So if you spin this around, I am at more risk of being poor by NOT investing (guaranteed to occur) than investing (somewhere below 50%). So in my mind I am making the safer choice.

Lost 10k in a property syndicate I signed up for (3 months before the GFC) that I saw in the accountants office whilst waiting for an appointment.
Why would you bother with 'property syndicate'? They 'promise' about 20% return right? Why not try shares instead??
